Destin Harbor Improvement Program Consultant Selected (12/07/2006)(Destin, FL) - This week the Destin Community Redevelopment Agency selected Tetra Tech, Inc., a Pasadena, California based company with a local office in Destin, to lead a major waterfront improvement program of the Destin Harbor CRA. The Destin Harbor is home to the largest charter fishing fleet in Florida and is known as the "World's Luckiest Fishing Village." The Harbor CRA encompasses about 400 acres bordered by historic Destin and the Destin Harbor. Tetra Tech will provide conceptual planning and design for the Capital Improvements Program that will include a waterfront boardwalk, parking improvements, pedestrian and water access improvements, roadway and streetscape improvements, public plazas and spaces, and stormwater improvements. Greg Kisela, Destin City Manager, says, "The improvements will continue to make the Destin Harbor District a destination of choice for residents and tourists alike." Hank Woollard, CRA Manager for the City of Destin says, "Tetra Tech will work with the community, stakeholders including businesses, the fishing fleet, residents and property owners to gain public consensus on the final design concepts. Tetra Tech will then develop engineering design plans and specifications and help the city implement the proposed improvements." Tetra Tech, a leading provider of consulting, engineering and technical services, formed a partnership with expert design team members for this pursuit. Partners include EDSA, one the leading planning, landscape architecture, and urban design firms; Walker Parking Consultants, the largest parking consulting firm in the nation; and Economics Research Associates, an international consulting firm focused on future economic outcomes and capital improvement funding strategies.
