Destin Selected as Best Beach in Diversion Magazine's Readers Choice Awards (December 2007)Physicians love a day at the beach. The top Readers’ Choice was the extraordinary strand in DESTIN, Florida. Located along the 24-mile Emerald Coast panhandle, the beach combines pure white Appalachian quartz sand with warm Gulf waters. Cancún, Mexico, came in second, and South Carolina’s Myrtle Beach and Kiawah Island tied for third. Other favorites nominated included exotic locales like Sydney’s Bondi Beach and Rio de Janeiro’s Ipanema; closer to home, choices ranged from the ocean shore along North Carolina’s Outer Banks to urban beaches like Muskegon, Michigan’s Pere Marquette Park on Lake Michigan. Two fans of all-over tans cast their ballots for St. Martin’s clothing-optional Orient Beach.
